BREAKING NEWS: Christian Panucci Rescinds Contract With Parma – OFFICIAL (Goal.com)
Christian Panucci has left Parma by mutual consent seven months after joining them.
Both club, and player announced the move on Tuesday afternoon, and a statement on their official website reads:
“Parma FC, after having considered the personal reasons given by the player, would like to note the consensual rescission of Christian Panucci’s contract with the club which was set to expire on June 30.”
Panucci released his own statement, also published by Parma’s official site. It reads:
“Christian Panucci would like to note his contract rescission with Parma because of strict personal reasons. The contract had tied him to Parma until June 30 2010.
“Panucci would like to thank the club Parma FC, president [Tommaso] Ghirardi, the team, and all the fans, and wishes them the best fortunes.”
Panucci also denied allegations which suggested he left the club because of a bust-up with coach Francesco Guidolin.
“In relation to certain news published by the press in recent days, Panucci catgorically denies any friction with the coach and this was not a basis for his decision,” he added.
Panucci joined Parma from Roma last July on a one year deal. He played 19 games for them this season, scoring one goal, and picking up just two yellow cards.
