Sampdoria Director Beppe Marotta Rues Refereeing Decisions Following Parma Defeat (Goal.com)

Sampdoria once again handed their press responsibilities to Giuseppe Marotta for the second week in succession after an outraged Gigi Del Neri once again refused to comment in the wake of his side’s defeat to Parma.

“I would like to make an objective judgement and cast everyone’s minds back to the penalty given against us in the derby,” he declared to SkySport.

“Given the referee was well placed this afternoon, I don’t understand why the fourth official made him change his initial decision as he was 50 metres away from the incident. All I am asking for is consistency in the decision making process.

“The referee himself declared to the players that he had changed his mind.

“After the Inter game I was quick to declare we must try and calm things down, but I still think it was a penalty and am only trying to make some constructive criticism with regards to the referee’s performance.”
